Yep, I’m cranking out the glass lately. If you consider one bead a day cranking that is. And I do, actually. :D I am also working on a box purse thanks to the amazing work of Angry Chicken, I just have to have one, and what better way then to make it myself? Check out more shots of this bead over at Etsy.

But as with all the stuff I make that I love, I understand that if it sells and I miss it, I can make another one! Available at Etsy right now.

Hubby’s root canal went well, only one day of extreme pain and now he’s fine. I’m a mess of hormones and not much inclined to make much of late, but I did manage to get some new stuff listed at Etsy, including the bead above, one of my favorites. A trip to Borders last night proved fruitful, as I was introduced to the happiness that is Paperchase. Pics to come.

I am such a sucker for vinyl. This bag I almost decided to keep for myself, but it’s too big for me, I carry small to medium bags. I may have to make a mini-twin for myself though. This big mamma jamma is for sale at Etsy right now, check it out!

Because that’s whats in hubby’s future, next Friday morning in fact.  Good freaking times.  On a happier note, I have a spiffy new tote to show off, black and white and silver vinyl, with cupcakes and skull bandana print lining, but we are in and out all day today, no chance to take pictures yet.  But it is way cool.

Sheesh, took me long enough. Not a whole lot, but hey, 3 focal beads is better than none, no? So check them out and maybe even adopt one for yourself, they need good homes.

Vinyl, Toothaches, and Keds July 13, 2006

toothache.jpg

My new Keds have arrived, the ones from the last post, and I heart them a whole lot.  They are rubbing my ankles raw, so a bit of breaking in is needed, other than that they are super cute, despite Hubby claiming they are shoes his grandmother would wear, I responded very sweetly to this by saying that his Grandma has always had good taste, and then stuck my tongue out.  I’m working on a new giant tote, this one will be vinyl with cupcakes on it, done in black and white, lined with a neato skull print fabric.  I am in love with it so far, might be a toughy to part with.  And now for the toothache part.  Hubby has a wisdom tooth that is angry with him and wants out.  So off to the dentist we go this afternoon and hopefully they will just pull the damn thing and not make him wait (and suffer) for oral surgery.  I had a wisdom tooth crack a couple of years ago and after being in absolute agony for 2 days I finally called the dentist (we didn’t have dental insurance then).  They were just lovely to me, got me in that same day, shot me full of novocaine before discussing options for the tooth so I could actually think, and even watched my kids while they pulled the tooth then and there.  It was a beautiful experience, no pain at all.  We are going to the same dentist so I sure hope they can help Hubby, I was contemplating suicide until I got rid of that damn tooth.  Updates will follow.

I may need these more than the owl shoes. These are the Apple Green Lemon Dolce Skimmers also from Keds. I am making sure hubby see both pairs of these and remembers me come Christmas. Or not. Looks like I need some more hours at Starbucks…

Hubby’s visit to the cardiologist this morning went well. There isn’t anything wrong with him that losing some weight won’t cure. He is hypertensive (high blood pressure). Losing weight shouldn’t be too hard either, as we have been eating extremely well for the last week or so, tons of veggies and fresh fruit, very little meat for Hubby, and no soda and little amounts of dessert. He has lost (in a week!) 6 pounds, I’ve lost 5, and all I did was to cut out dairy (I’m a vegetarian). At this rate we will be swimsuit models by next summer (ha-ha). I also made my first recipes out of my new vegan cookbooks, Vegan Vittles and The Ultimate Uncheese Cookbook both by Joanne Stepaniak. I love these books. Last nights dinner was Unstuffed Shells from Vegan Vittles. It’s basically stuffed pasta shells inside out, i.e.- you don’t stuff the shells you toss little shells with the “cheese” filling. I used penne as that was all I had on hand and instead of topping the shells with tomato sauce, I mixed the sauce in. There is no dairy AT ALL in this recipe, the “ricotta” filling is totally tofu. Yes, tofu. And it was hella good. I should’ve taken a picture, you would NOT have been able to tell by looking (or tasting) that this had no dairy in it. Hubby was skeptical, but cleaned his plate and had seconds. And I am proud. Cooked my first vegan dinner and my meat-eating husband loved it. Life is good.

Blah. July 6, 2006

Filed under: ramblings, sewing, shopping — robingreeneye @ 2:30 pm

It’s been a long bloody 2 weeks. Our vacation was last week but we wound up doing pretty much nothing due to Hubby being sick. That is a long story and I don’t yet want to talk about it. I’ll feel better after the trip to the cardiologist tomorrow. Sigh. Enough said I guess. We are hoping it’s just stress, and not something wrong. We’ll see. Not much on the crafty front over the last 2 weeks either, I have been too jittery to be interested in much, and being hormonal to boot doesn’t help either. I am working on a bear from my Wee Wonderfuls Pattern Book, and all I am willing to share is that there will be skulls involved. Now for some shamless self-promotion: All the stuff I have listed at Etsy is still there, so if you have shopping to do, check me out for lots of nifty goodness. End of commercial.
